How far in advance do I have to book my trip?
To ensure availability, you should book your trip at least
three weeks in advance. The sooner you book, the more options you have.
What is the required deposit?
This generally changes from one company to the next, but on average it is 22%. Nearly 90% of charter bus companies require a deposit and recently some are requesting 100% up front. Call to confirm.
When do I have to make final payment?
Most companies request full payment from anywhere between 10 to 30 days prior to departure.
What is the cancellation policy?
Again, this is dependent on each company, but generally they offer a full refund as long as the cancellation is made at least two weeks prior to departure.
Do I tip the operator?
Yes. Generally this is 10%, but some companies in metro areas charge 15-20%. This is an important question to ask of the company you choose and whether they include gratuity in the final bill.
Can I have alcohol on board? What about smoking?
The majority of US companies permit alcohol on board with a deposit (usually between $150 to $250). Alcohol is not permitted on buses in Canada. Very few bus companies permit smoking on board their buses.
