6th accused in custody, according to Commissioner CV Anand
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Commissioner CV Anand on Tuesday informed that a total of 5 people were involved in penetrative sexual assaults in Jubilee Hills underage gang rape case and four of them are minors (Children in Conflict in law or CCL) and one is a major, Saduddin Malik.
“Another minor who participated in a sexual assault (forced kissing) but not a rape with penetration, is found and is currently in custody, he said, “Another defendant is still at large”, he further informed.
“The fourth minor was on the run but is in our custody and will be sent to juvenile court,” he said.
The minor son of an AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) MP is one of six defendants in the case. Another minor is the son of a local ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi party leader with another who is the son of a politician Sanga Reddy, according to media reports.
“We didn’t have the footage of what happened in the car until the BJP released the video,” the commissioner said.
He also released the sequence of events that took place in connection with the incident.
“A Bangalore-based underage defendant asked his friends to look for a pub in Hyderabad to host an alcohol-free and tobacco-free party. The band with the help of manager Kunal and another friend Osman Ali Khan (the party was booked under his name since he is a major) at Amnesia pub, Jubilee Hills finalized the arrangement. The commissioner said police struggled to get the victim to speak and reveal details as part of the investigation.
“Where we struggled was that the victim did not inform his parents until May 31. But suspected after observing marks on her body, the parents approached the police and spoke to DCP. Immediately, a case was registered at the Jubilee Hills police station. The victim was sent to a center in Bharosa because she gave no details. Even there, after additional DCP Sireesha and others spent 3-4 hours talking to her and building her confidence, she slowly started to reveal the details,” CV Anand said.
“She was sent to Nilofuer Hospital for medical examinations and legal procedures were carried out. The investigation started and during the process she was only able to identify one person from the group,” said said the commissioner.
“On May 28, at 1.10 p.m., the victim and one of the defendants went to the pub and danced until 1.50 p.m. After that, he left somewhere for another engagement. The victim remained in the pub with another of her friends. At 3.15 am another CCL approached her with Saduddin malik and they behaved badly with her. At 5.10 am, due to increased aggression, she felt uncomfortable and at 5:40 a.m. she left with her friend to the pub to escape abuse. All the minors, who arrived there at 3 p.m., according to CCTV footage, planned the plot in the meantime,” the commissioner said. .
After that, the accused followed her outside the pub. The victim’s friend had left her house after booking a taxi. The CCLs trapped her after talking to her. At 5.43 p.m., the four minors and the victim got into a Mercedes car to go to the Concu bakery. At the same time, four others (Saduddin Malik and three CCL) got into an Innova car. Insomnia pub is on road No 36, Jubilee Hills as he went to the bakery on road No 14, Banjara Hills, in rotation, started kissing the victim one after another with strength,” he said.
The commissioner also said the videos circulating online were taken by the defendants and were released by them.
“They arrived at the bakery at 5:51 p.m. and at 5:54 p.m. the victim got out of the Mercedes and got into the Innova. At 5:57 a.m. both cars were parked in the parking lot. At 6:15 p.m. the Innova left the bakery In the Innova, A1 Saduddin Malik along with five other CCLs and the victim, a total of seven left the bakery.At 6:18 a.m., an out-of-the-lot CCL returned due to a phone call or other reasons. The rest of the accused along with the victim went to Road No. 44, behind the Peddamma temple, to a dark and desolate area, where the first CCL raped her.After that, in rotation, the rest of the four raped her,” he informed.
“During this process, the victim suffered serious injuries to his neck and other parts of his body. At 7:51 p.m., the Innova returned to the pub, and the victim was dropped off there. She called her dad and at 7:51 p.m. he arrived and picked her up from there,” CV Anand said.
The commissioner informed that the investigation into the case is over. A1 Saduddin Malik and the four CCLs.
The five people who were directly involved in the rape are charged with 376d (gang rape), 323 (causing bodily harm), POCSO act 5g read with section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault), 366 (kidnapping by incitement), 366(a) kidnapping of a minor, 67 of the Computers (Videos in Circulation) Act. “The courts can give them a total sentence of 20 years behind bars or a life sentence or even the death penalty,” the Hyderabad commissioner said.
“Strong evidence is available here against them. A fine of a reasonable amount to be paid to the victim to cover medical and rehabilitation costs may also be imposed by the court,” he added.
On the sixth minor who was not involved in the penetrative sexual assault but in the forced kisses in the car, sections of IPC 354, IPC 323, section 9g read with section 10 of the POCSO Act (sexual assault aggravated by a gang) and the sentence can be a minimum of 5 to 7 years in prison,” he said.
“The trial of the case will take place before a special court,” he added.
The commissioner also said a report on the Amnesia pub is being sent to the excise department and they will take action in accordance with the rules.
Police said the defendants were students in grades 11 and 12, allegedly from “politically influential” families. On June 3, Joel Davis, the West Area Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), said a deputy’s son would be part of the group, but he may not have been involved in the gang rape.
NCW requests detailed report from Telangana DGP on measures taken to keep women safe
Expressing concern over the “increasing” rate of heinous crimes against girls and women in Hyderabad district, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has called on the Telangana Police to intervene directly in the case and to send a detailed report on the measures taken by the State to ensure the safety and security of the females.
The NCW, in a statement, said it came across an article which reported that five cases of rape against underage girls had been reported in Hyderabad in one week.
The Commission said it had taken note of the “increasing rate of heinous crimes” against girls and women in the Hyderabad district of Telangana.
“The role of the police is not only to protect and prevent crime, but also to take prompt and appropriate action on the matter. Therefore, the Commission has taken cognizance of the matter,” the NCW said.
NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to Telangana Police Chief Executive to intervene directly in the case and send a detailed report within seven days on the measures taken by the state to ensure safety and the safety of girls and women so that these incidents can be avoided in the future.
BJP MP sentenced for leaking video of victim
Abids Police have taken action against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Raghunandan Rao for allegedly revealing the identity of a survivor in a minor gang rape case. The case was registered under Section 228A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Raghunandan Rao then said it was ‘evidence’ that the son of an AIMIM party MP was present in one of the cars with the victim and that the police tried to protect the MP’s son in that case.
