What is GSO WaterWise?

GSO WaterWise is a multi-year innovation program that includes a series of customer service and infrastructure improvements. The launch of the program is an upgrade of the water meter for you, the customers of our water resources.

Over the next few months, we will be making additional improvements, such as a new online portal that will allow you to view information about your water usage and receive important and timely notifications from Water Resources.

Project timeline

2006

Automated Meter Reading (AMR)
The City is moving from manual reading of water meters to AMR devices in the car.

2018

End of life issues
AMR devices have communication problems and need to be replaced.

2019

Feasibility study
Research recommends switching to new technology rather than replacing failed devices with similar ones.

2021

GSO WaterWise begins
The City begins the transition to improved technology – meters with two-way communications.

2022

GSO WaterWise customer portal available
Track your water usage and receive important notifications from Water Resources whenever and wherever you want.

Beyond 2023

Continuous improvement
The new meter technology has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years. This prepares the City to take advantage of future technologies to provide customer service and manage water resources.
