CTM unveils due diligence and approval workflows


Corporate Travel Management (CTM) unveiled a series of new technology features designed to help businesses protect their travelers and their travel budgets.

Global TMC is introducing new risk and health alert notifications to its proprietary online booking tool Lightning, which recently received the Technology Innovation – Enterprise Booking Platform award at the Business Travel Awards Europe. Displaying in the Travel Finder Workflow, CTM says alerts can help travel bookings and travelers make more informed decisions at the point of sale about the risks of traveling within the city or country than they are looking for.

Additionally, the company’s existing due diligence tools for travel, risk and human resources managers are upgraded with a new ‘safety record’ feature that allows them to send a notification of Alert request to any traveler or group in a specific location that requires them to check in to verify if they are safe or in danger. Using the CTM portal, alerts can be sent to all employees who need to travel or currently located in a country of the user’s choice. Responses are recorded for the travel manager to review, and reminders to all or selected travelers can be sent manually or scheduled at regular intervals.

Lightning will also now provide a “visual boost” to bookings when travelers make more than five hours of train travel compared to peak hours when they are back and forth in the same day. According to CTM, its data shows that often an overnight stay and later trains can be cheaper and better for employee well-being and performance.

CTM’s pre-trip approval tool, CTM Approve, has also been extended to provide greater personalization. An infinite number of travel approvers can be incorporated into the workflow, with rules and variables configurable to meet specific business needs.
