DFA suspends online passport delivery services

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Foreign Affairs has suspended the services of courier service provider Quick Reliable Service, Inc. (QRS) following several complaints from passport applicants.

Several passport applicants who booked courier services online reported unsatisfactory performance from the courier service provider.

“The DFA apologizes for the shortcomings of the QRS and calls for public understanding as it implements alternative delivery options in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the DFA said in a statement on Sunday .

The agency said it “has asked APO Production Unit, Inc., its end-to-end passport process provider, to immediately stop using QRS passport delivery services.”

Starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, online passport applicants can inquire about the status of their package by email via [email protected] or hotline +63 2 82343488, (press 1 for QRS issues).

During this time, on-site passport applicants who wish to use courier services on the day they apply will not be affected by the termination of QRS services.

The Foreign Ministry’s consular affairs office said it would not open passport appointment slots on June 16, 2018 “to make way for server maintenance and upgrading.”

“The opening of the meeting slots will resume on Monday, June 18, 2018, at 12 p.m. and 9 p.m.”, specifies the DFA.
