The district health service has increased the number of Covid vaccination centers with the aim of vaccinating more than 22,500 beneficiaries over the age of 45 on Friday, who still have not taken the first dose.
Friday’s vaccination campaign will include 98 vaccination centers. The last mega vaccination campaign took place on Monday, in which 137 vaccination centers administered vaccines to 29,775 beneficiaries. The health department organized another campaign on Thursday with the goal of vaccinating 22,500 beneficiaries in 81 camps. “Against a vaccination target of 22,500 beneficiaries, 16,920 people were vaccinated on Thursday. Of these, 6,648 received the first dose while 9,642 received the second dose. The campaign aimed to vaccinate beneficiaries over 45 years old. About 70% of beneficiaries vaccinated Thursday fell into this category, ”said Dr Neeraj Tyagi, district immunization manager Gautam Budh Nagar.
During a door-to-door surveillance carried out from September 7 to 16, the health service identified 56,489 beneficiaries over the age of 45 who had still not taken the first dose. The district health service has been tasked with ensuring that this age group is given priority immunization.
“After the door-to-door survey found that more than 50,000 people over the age of 45 had not taken a vaccine, a meeting was held with officials from the district health department and a strategy was developed to ensure that this group receives the first dose within a week. Hence the two vaccination campaigns Thursday and Friday, ”said Dr Tyagi.
