‘Have my reservations…’: Ex-PM Nalini’s assassin on his encounter with the Gandhi family

When asked if and why Nalini Sriharan was hesitant to meet the Gandhi family, she replied that she was not hesitant but had her own reservations.

By Pramod Madhav: One of the six convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, Nalini Sriharan, who was freed following the Supreme Court’s order, shared that she had reservations about meeting with the Gandhi family. The High Court on Friday ordered the release of Nalini, who was serving a life sentence in connection with the murder of Rajiv Gandhi.

“I don’t hesitate, I have reservations about meeting the Gandhi family. I pinched Priyanka the last time I met her,” Nalini Sriharan said.

Speaking to India Today, she said that despite the Supreme Court’s verdict on their release, her husband, Sriharan alias Murugan, was taken along with Santhan, Robert Pious and Jayakumar to Trichy special camp.

“Earlier they (the authorities) said he was taken to a special camp, but now I hear that he has been turned into a special prison. I will meet him on Monday,” she said. .

The other six convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case were released on Saturday after the Supreme Court delivered its verdict.

‘AN ANGEL’: NALINI DESCRIBES MEETING PRIYANKA

When asked if and why she was hesitant to meet the Gandhi family, she said she was not hesitant but had her own reservations.

“When I first met her (Priyanka Gandhi), I pinched her to make sure she was real. She was an angel but she was looking for answers, at least a little clue about the death of her father. She wanted to solve the puzzle which I believe was not letting her sleep. Why should I expect her to meet me now?” Nalini said.

She again appealed to the government to release her husband so that they could go and live with her daughter Haritha in London.
