We have a terrific job opportunity for a mid-level content and communications manager and a historic and renowned wine estate based in Paarl. This fully on-site role is ideal for a hands-on writer with previous hospitality experience. The Content and Communications Manager will be responsible for generating effective written content and helping execute external communications for this heritage winery providing a village-like hub for locals and a highly engaging wine destination experience for wineries. visitors. You will be responsible for writing communications materials such as press releases, social media, newsletters, brochure copy and website content. You will also be responsible for daily social media monitoring, working with a specialist digital marketing company on campaigns. As part of the brand communications team, you will work with colleagues and external specialists to develop website content, plan social media and PR campaigns, develop email campaigns and create print and online publications.

Responsibilities

Writing & Writing

  • Ensure that the quality of all our written communications is good and the tone is consistent with the brand
  • Draft press releases
  • Write and edit website content
  • Produce newsletters
  • Writing marketing material.

PR support

  • Gather information and write press releases
  • Distribute PR and secure local coverage. At some stage, work alongside designated PR partners on specific campaigns
  • Download and organize coverage in our PR library
  • Distribute public relations coverage.

Brand and Marketing Support

  • Help execute our communications strategy and campaigns
  • Assist in the production of marketing materials including menus, brochures, flyers, newsletters, websites, business presentations, branded items, etc.
  • Manage and update website content
  • Manage database and newsletters
  • Maintain our digital library of all marketing materials, logos, branded items, etc. products.

Social Media

  • Responsible for day-to-day social media, showcasing customer experience and sharing news of upcoming events
  • Create content including text messages, videos and images for use on social media
  • Monitor social media accounts
  • Interact with subscribers and potential customers by communicating and answering questions through the company’s social pages
  • Help implement plans to grow followers on popular social media websites such as Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn
  • Work alongside a digital marketing firm who will drive digital strategy and performance campaigns.

Photo and video

  • Capable of producing good quality photos, and possibly videos, for social media
  • Keep an eye out for gaps in our image library to be filled by professional photographers
  • Upload new materials to our digital library and marketing channels
  • Distribute images as needed for marketing and public relations.

Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Minimum relevant advanced degree or higher degree in Journalism, English, Marketing, Public Relations or Communications
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with full responsibility for generating quality written content for a range of media channels and publications and/or managing external communications campaigns
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in social media management
  • Project management capabilities
  • Hospitality experience – a plus
  • Familiar with WordPress and various industry-related online booking platforms
  • Solid knowledge and experience in online and offline marketing communications
  • A digitally savvy person with an interest in design, travel, food, wine, or social media marketing
  • Excellent written communication skills (fluency in English is a requirement)
  • A “hands-on” copywriter with the ability to create and generate written communication requirements with little or no guidance
  • Solid writing portfolio
  • Previous PR experience – ideal
  • Work well in a growing team environment
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Word and PowerPoint
  • Some basic photo editing skills with Photoshop or Adobe Lightroom would be a plus
