Online Booking Trial for Clarence Valley Tennis Courts

A new tennis court reservation system will be piloted in select locations in the Clarence Valley.

The courts of Iluka, Coutts Crossing and Glenreagh were chosen for a twelve-month trial of the online system.

Composed of a reservation portal and a smart padlock, users will be able to pay for court rental online and access them using a PIN code provided at the time of reservation.

Clarence Valley Board Director for Open Spaces and Facilities Peter Birch said the trial was a new approach to the board’s facilities management.

“This is a smart system that will also allow us to collect data on court usage,” Birch said.

“This will not only ensure that the courts are booked correctly, but will also help us direct funds to the facilities where they are needed most. “

There are nearly 70 tennis courts in the Clarence Valley with an allocated maintenance budget of $ 20,000.

“Maintaining these facilities throughout the LGA is a challenge, so smarter ways to better understand their use will be of great benefit,” Mr. Birch said.

The initial trial of the online reservation system will start at the end of December 2021 / beginning of January 2022.
