Reservations are being taken for celebrity chef Glynn Purnell’s new Warwickshire restaurant

Reservations are now being taken for dinner at celebrity chef Glynn Purnell’s new pub and restaurant in Warwickshire.

The new food and drink destination is set to open at the end of March in Henley-in-Arden.

Mount by Glynn Purnell is located in a 200 year old building on the main street of the market town, which lies between Solihull and Stratford.

The Mount opens in premises formerly occupied by the Butchers Social, which has moved to the Forest Hotel in Dorridge, Solihull.

The pub and restaurant are billed as a ‘new and exciting dining and drinking experience’.

The Mount’s menu will focus on pub food, but with an unmistakable Glynn Purnell twist.

Last week, The Mount announced on social media that it was taking bookings from March 23.

A visit to its website shows that interest has been strong, with all March dates now sold out.

Availability remains in April, but even then it seems busy, with many dates already sold out.

Speaking recently about the new venture, the Michelin-starred chef told BirminghamLive: “I am absolutely delighted to be opening The Mount in Henley-in-Arden. The Mount is my first business outside of Birmingham city center and I am very happy to be joining such a thriving community as Henley-in-Arden.

“I have already received so much support and well wishes since the news of our opening was announced.

“We are currently taking bookings from the end of March.

“In the meantime, we are undergoing refurbishment. The refurbishment will retain the ambience of the 16th century pub, with a modern twist in the dining area. I look forward to personally welcoming people to The Mount very soon!”

BBC Saturday Kitchen star Glynn, known as Yummy Brummie, runs a Michelin-starred restaurant called Purnell’s in Birmingham city centre.

He also had a venue in Birmingham city center called Purnell’s Bistro which closed in 2020 during lockdown.

Most of the bistro’s employees move to the Mount, including general manager Pete Casson.

A recruitment drive is underway for more hospitality staff to join the team.

Glynn originally planned to open a replacement for Purnell’s Bistro in Knowle, Solihull, but in September 2021 he revealed that after the bistro closed the Knowle venture had failed.

He said: “Having to close the Bistro before Christmas 2020 (due to government restrictions) means we’ve gotten to the point where we’ve decided to just let the lease end.

“The plan was to move this business to Knowle, but we didn’t get the deal we wanted with the owner there.”

The Mont will reopen after undergoing renovations.

Glynn is also set to open a new venue in Coventry – a fine dining restaurant at the Charterhouse, near London Road – as part of the restoration and refurbishment of the historic building.

The mount is easily accessible from Henley-in-Arden station.

In a Facebook post, The Mount said: “We are very happy to announce that our reservation system is now live on our website and you can make a reservation for dates from Wednesday March 23rd.

“You can also make reservations by phone on 01564 792135 weekdays 10am-2pm. We hope to see you all very soon!”

Reservations can be made via The Mount website here.
