Women’s self-help groups in Tamil Nadu will soon also operate petrol tanks, Minister KR Periyakaruppan said

Speaking at a meeting held on Saturday to review various projects implemented under the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women, with Principal Secretary P Amutha, he said providing bank loans to self-help groups would not be enough on their own.

“More stores would be created to market their products. Measures would be taken to help them operate petrol tanks on national roads and CM Stalin will soon inaugurate these plans within the framework of the women’s mutual aid committees, ”he declared.

The minister said that steps will be taken to set up electronic service centers in all panchayats through women’s self-help groups, through which the reservation of tickets, payment of electricity bills, issuance of passports, PAN and Aadhaar cards, and others can be done online.

Programs such as the rural poverty eradication program, the functioning of panchayat associations, the rural livelihood program within the framework of the TN company for the development of women, as well as projects implemented. work within the framework of the urban livelihood movement, activities under the Deenadayal Grameen Kaushalya Yojana and the Tamil Nadu Rural Development Project were discussed at the meeting.

Programs for self-help groups through bank loans, vocational training, employment opportunities and the like were also reviewed. “We need to create more self-help groups for women and work to reach out to self-help groups under government programs,” the minister said.
